Welcome to After School Music Academy, California’s premier arts and music academy! Our mission is to empower kids and young adults to build confidence through creativity. Our team is passionate about delivering top-notch arts education classes to schools statewide. We believe in the limitless potential of each student to unleash their creativity and freely express themselves. Here, we will share practical tips with educators on how to get ready for our classes. We will touch on important topics like instrument acquisition, class logistics, and attire guidelines.

Understanding Class Logistics

It’s essential to understand the logistics of our After School Music Academy programs. Most of our music lessons typically run for about 60 minutes. Some classes extending to 90 minutes for a more in-depth learning experience. We maintain a student-to-teacher ratio of 20:1 for our ELOP, ASES, and Prop 28 classes, ensuring personalized attention and effective instruction.

Additionally, our PTA-sponsored programs feature smaller ratios of 12:1 or 15:1 to enhance the learning environment. To optimize instruction quality, we recommend grouping students in classes spanning three to four grades. The ideal groupings are for grades K through 2, 3 through 5, 6 through 8, and 9 through 12.

Instrument and Equipment Acquisition

One common query educators have is the process for acquiring instruments and equipment for After School Music Academy programs. Our classes have a list of required instruments and equipment, which can be obtained through our network of reputable gear retailers. We can connect you with sales engineers who specialize in educational music gear to facilitate the ordering process. While we do offer transportable options for certain classes, such as ukulele, keyboard, and drum classes, these portable programs come with additional costs to account for their convenience and storage considerations.

Attire Guidelines for Movement-Based Classes

When it comes to movement-based classes, we prioritize comfort and flexibility. We do not enforce any strict uniform requirements. However, we recommend that students wear athletic clothes and shoes that allow for comfortable movement during physical activities. This ensures they can engage actively in our movement-based sessions and fully immerse themselves in the creative process.
